Call for Abstracts

Open call for Visual Abstracts!

- Submit until 31st July -

To increase interaction and networking we will be distributing a “calling card” with participants information regarding scientific interests and a visual abstract concerning your specific project.

The visual abstract is a snapshot of your work that is designed to give an immediate understanding of your research. It is intended to be a summary that will encourage the reader to want to learn more.

Below is a preliminary version of how the visual abstracts will look like on your “calling card”. Be aware, these cards will have the size of a playing card, so when designing an image for your visual abstract make sure this fits with the dimensions of the card.

Please email your visual abstract and a photo of you to

Instructions: your visual abstract should be exactly 5.3 x 7.8 cm (portrait orientation) with a resolution of at least 300 DPI.

Because of this size we encourage you to only use text sparingly, and with a minimum font size of 9. Elsevier and CellPress provide useful examples and advice for designing effective graphical abstracts here and here.

Templates are provided below. Try to print out an accurately sized version of your visual abstract beforehand to see whether it suits the size. If you have any questions or problems while preparing your visual abstract do not hesitate to contact us.

Templates: PDF, Adobe Illustrator
